Rise and shine! What a beautiful day you have ahead of you to spend inside where it is always cold. I mean COLD, unlike this pesky comforter, which is pretty much DESIGNED to keep you in a cocoon of warmth not unlike your mother’s womb. Who needs THAT?
The last thing you want to do is stay in bed where it is warm, and perfect, and no one is bothering you except the cat. The sooner you kick off those sheets, take a “sink shower,” and head out the door, the sooner EVERYONE will start bothering you, EXCEPT your cat, who is really the only “person” who is allowed to bother you. This is what it means to be alive.
It’s so great that you went to bed super early last night to make this morning more bearable. What an unexpected thrill to discover that your body can’t distinguish between 12 hours of sleep and 6 hours of sleep any more than you can distinguish between a bottle of wine that costs $15 versus $300. You live for these little surprises, such as the sleep thing, and the fact that you’ve run out of clean underwear.
Nothing starts your morning off right like a leisurely breakfast as you prepare for the day ahead. Check out how other people are spending their mornings on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Read all the links. Like all the statuses. Spend 17 minutes on “Mornings Like These,” and order yourself a Bodum vacuum coffee maker and a scone pan. Realize you are still not dressed and have spent so long online that you don’t have time to do anything but run screaming out the door wearing shoes that might match. #morningslikethese
I see that you’ve been yawning for 15 minutes straight on the train to work. You must be bored. Luckily, there’s plenty of work to do when you get to the office — more than your heart could desire or you could reasonably be expected to finish — so you won’t be bored for much longer.
Ah, here we are. The sun is shining – probably, behind that apartment building that’s under construction outside your window – the birds are chirping, elsewhere, perhaps, it’s hard to hear over the jack-hammer, and the work day has begun. And, hey, you’re alive, and possibly wearing matching shoes. So there’s that!
Good morning!
I needed this one today:)
